On Monday Florida head coach Jim McElwain landed the biggest recruit of his short tenure landing running back Jordan Scarlett. The bigger “get” of the prized recruit was flipping him away from in-state rival Miami.

Scarlett committed to Miami on July 8 after a brief commitment to Florida Atlantic. On Sunday the St. Thomas Aquinas running back flipped his verbal commitment again picking the Gators over roughly 20 other scholarship offers.

The Fort Lauderdale area talent finished his senior season with 1,224 yards and 24 touchdowns along with an invite to the U.S. Army All-American game. He had official visits to Ohio State (Sept. 6), Wisconsin (Sept. 27), Miami (Jan. 16), Florida (Jan. 23), and FSU (Jan. 30).

The Florida staff is closing strong heading into National Signing Day on Wednesday landing offensive tackle Fred Johnson (Royal Palm Beach High School), defensive tackle Richerd Desir-Jones (St. Thomas Aquinas High School), defensive end Luke Ancrum (Sebring High School), safety Kylan Johnson (Skyline High School), and Scarlett since Saturday.
