USC hires Bob Connelly as new offensive line coach
On Wednesday USC Trojans head coach Steve Sarkisian
announced the hiring of Bob Connelly as the team’s new offensive line coach.
Connelly was hired off of the Oklahoma
State staff after serving one season
as the Cowboys’ offensive line coach. Connelly’s other stops include Cal State
Northridge (1999), San Jose State (2000), Washington State (2001-2002), Alabama
(2003-2006), UCLA (2007), UTEP (2008-2011), and Arizona State (2012). In 2013
Connelly coached the offensive line at Gilbert
High School in Gilbert,
Ariz., a town southeast of Phoenix
Former offensive line coach Tim Drevno, a Cal State
Fullerton graduate, came to USC from the San Francisco
49ers spending one season on the Los
Angeles campus. When former 49ers head coach Jim
Harbaugh was hired as the new head coach at Michigan,
Drevno followed his former boss to Ann
Arbor being named offensive coordinator and offensive
Connelly is credited with helping 2008 Outland Trophy winner
Andre Smith become the sixth overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He also worked
with top draft picks Justin Smiley, Evan Mathis, and Antoine Caldwell.
