The Minnesota Golden Gophers have made tremendous progress under head coach Jerry Kill, and the other Big 10 teams know that they have the ability to beat anyone in the conference. This season David Cobb will carry the load on offense and is another NFL caliber running back in the Big 10.

The 5’11 225-pound senior got his chance last year, rushing for 1,202 yards and 7 touchdowns, earning team Offensive MVP honors. It was a breakout year for him after getting limited carries his first two seasons. He had 91 yards rushing in the Texas Bowl against Syracuse and was one of the only backs to rush for over 100 yards against Michigan State. He finished the season with 6 100 yard games.
Cobb will enter the 2014 season as one of the best in the country and was nominated for the Doak Walker Award Watch List. The staff knows he is capable of doing some great things and will feed him the ball even more this year.

Cobb is from Killeen, Texas and played for Ellison HighSchool. He had a few offers outside of Minnesota, including Stanford and Memphis. Cobb is ready to have another great season, and the Gophers will open it up against Eastern Illinois on August 28 at TCF Bank Stadium.
