The Big 10 is loaded with great running backs this season and at the top of the list is Nebraska’s Ameer Abdullah. He led the conference in rushing last season with 1,690 yards and 9 touchdowns. He had 11 games where he rushed for over 100 yards. In 2013, he was Nebraska’s Team MVP, 1st Team All-Big 10 and earned 3rd Team All-American honors.

Abdullah has been nominated for the Doak Walker Award and Walter Camp Award Watch Lists this preseason. He has 4,914 career all-purpose yards heading into his senior season. Abdullah is utilized in many ways in the Nebraska offense, and only needs 700 yards to pass Mike Rozier and Johnny Rodgers, as the all-time leader for the Cornhuskers.

Abdullah came to Nebraska from Homewood High School in Alabama. He was an All-State player his senior year with 2,315 all-purpose yards and scored 28 touchdowns. He received some big offers from USC, South Carolina and Texas A&M.
