One of the bright young stars in the SEC is Tennessee wide receiver Marquez North. The conference is full of great talent and future NFL players, and North is a player to watch as we enter the new season.

Head coach Butch Jones is trying to turn the Vols’ program around and bring it back to where it used to be, competing for conference and national championships. On offense, North will be a key player over the next couple of years in helping make this happen.

North started last year as a true freshman and led the team with 496 receiving yards, and was second with 38 catches. He earned Freshman All-American honors by several media outlets. He had his biggest games against the best teams in the SEC. He had 87 receiving yards versus #1 Alabama and had 102 yards against #11 South Carolina.

North has unlimited potential and is just scratching the surface with what he is capable of doing on the football field. The quarterback situation is still unclear, and when that is settled North should blossom even more as a receiver.

Butch Jones is known for being a great recruiter and he is bringing in high profile players that have the ability to contribute early. North was a 4-star prospect from Mallard Creek High School. He was an All-State performer and the #2 prospect overall in North Carolina in his senior season.

The Vols will definitely improve on their 5-7 record from last season and look for Marques North to energize the 102,000+ fans at Neyland Stadium this fall.
