Freshman of the Week for his performance this past weekend against Florida.
Johnson, a 5’11 176-pound wide receiver, caught 6 passes for
154 yards and scored 2 touchdowns in a 3 overtime loss to the Florida Gators. The
154 receiving yards is a new Kentucky school record for a freshman.
Johnson caught his first touchdown early in the 3rd
quarter on a 60-yard pass play from quarterback Patrick Towles. This play gave
Kentucky their first lead of the game with 5:32 left in the quarter. On
Kentucky’s next offensive possession, Johnson caught a 33-yard touchdown pass
to put them back up 17-13.
Johnson is from West Orange High School
in Florida and was a
Team All-State performer last year as a senior. He chose the
Wildcats over the Gators during the recruiting process.
