The UCLA Bruins were dealt a major blow to their 2015 recruiting class when 4-star tight end Aliz’e Jones decommitted on Thursday flipping to Notre Dame.

The scuttlebutt around Jones’ potential flip had been ongoing since his December 12 official visit to South Bend. In total, Jones has visited the Fighting Irish four times going on unofficial visits as a camp participant in June of 2013, then again as a junior in September of 2013, and in September of 2014 during his senior season.

Jones joins a list of top recruits headed to South Bend in 2015. Among the offensive firepower verbally committed includes Notre Dame High School (Sherman Oaks, CA) wide receiver C.J. Sanders, Providence Catholic (New Lenox, IL) wide receiver Miles Boykin, Highland High School (Pocatello, ID) offensive lineman Tristen Hoge, and St. Peter’s Prep (Jersey City, NJ) quarterback Brandon Wimbush.

Jones will not be without a friend on the team, fellow Bishop Gorman Class of 2015 recruit Nicco Fertitta is verbally committed to the Irish as well. Fertitta committed in March of 2014.

UCLA’s recruiting class has 17 verbal commits with high-end firepower headed to the Westwood campus as well. The headliner is St. John Bosco quarterback Josh Rosen but Herriman High School (Herriman, UT) offensive lineman Andre James, Tokay High School (Lodi, CA) wide receiver L.J. Reed, and Lakeland Christian School (Lakeland, FL) running back T.J. Simmons are all highly recruited prospects nationally.

The Bruins are currently without a tight end committed to their 2015 class. Replacing Jones’ ability in the passing game maybe tough to accomplish. During his junior season he caught 35 passes for 571 with 10 touchdowns. As a senior Jones caught 41 passes for 930 yards with 13 touchdowns helping Bishop Gorman win their sixth straight Nevada State Championship. Bishop Gorman was labeled as the top high school team in the nation by many publications for the 2014 season.

Jones also has offers from Utah, USC, Georgia, Baylor, Auburn, Arizona State, Arizona, and Nebraska.
