Birmingham Groves

The Falcons had an impressive 2015 season making it to the Division 2 Regional Finals and finished the year with a 10-1 record. They had a huge first round playoff victory over Farmington Hills Harrison, shutting them out 10-0. This was one of 6 defensive shutouts last year.

Over the last three seasons, the Falcons have a 24-8 record and they are ready to build on that this year.

Groves has a strong senior class led by LB/FB Nate Wagner (6’1 218), RB Ernest Allen (5’10 210), and FS Ryan Flaherty (6’2 195). All three players earned All-Detroit North honors as juniors. Allen rushed for 826 rushing yards and scored 17 touchdowns.

The team also returns QB Beau Kewley (6’0 180), WR Nate Higley (5’10), TE Drew Sheckell (6’4 215), FB Mike Hill (5’10 190), OG Brady Anderson (6’1 230), CB Collin Heard (5’9 165), Carter Stupyra (6’0 255), CB Dylan Sutton (5’11) and NG Jaleel Anderson (5’10 285).

Groves will take a big jump this year moving to the OAA White Division. They will play a much tougher schedule with games against Harrison, Oak Park, and Rochester Adams. Their season opener this week is on the road against a great West Bloomfield team.
